Privacy Policy

Overview

Healify is committed to keeping user data secure and private. Our model is designed to put individuals in control of their wellness data (such as mood scores and charts), while providing the option to share this data voluntarily with a therapist. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect from individuals and therapists, how we use it, and the steps we take to keep it safe. By using this Service, you agree to our policies. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

Disclaimer

Healify is not a medical service, and does not provide diagnosis or treatment. The platform is intended for self-reflection and wellness tracking only. If you have concerns about your health, please consult a licensed healthcare professional.

Healify is operated by Erik Burns, sole proprietor, based in Santa Cruz, California, USA. In this Privacy Policy and our Terms, ‘Healify,’ ‘we,’ or ‘our’ refer to Erik Burns in this capacity.

Information We Collect

Healify collects information from all visitors to our site.

Browser Data

We automatically collect basic information from your browser (such as device type, operating system, and IP address) to help us maintain security, track usage, and improve our service. We also use standard web technologies, such as cookies and local storage, to improve your experience. These tools help us establish your session, keep you logged in, and ensure the site functions properly.

Registered Users

When you create an account, we collect basic registration information such as your name and email address. Depending on how you sign up, we may also store identity tokens from 3rd-party authorization services such as Google, Facebook, and Apple.

We may ask for and you may also choose to provide additional demographic information such as your location, gender, ethnicity, etc. If you wish to protect your identity, you may use alias information in any fields you choose.

Book Club Accounts

For certain programs (e.g., The Feeling Great Book Club), you may be able to use Healify without providing an email address. In this case, we generate a temporary account so you can record check-ins and see your results. At any time, you may “upgrade” your account by adding an email address. Upgrading provides stronger identity protection (so you don’t lose your data if you change devices) and enables secure recovery options.

Individual Accounts

If you have an individual account, you can record your current emotional state and life satisfaction across various dimensions (“Mood Scores”), as well as periodic check-ins for activities such as eating, sleeping, exercise, or self-care (“Journal Entries”). We refer to this information collectively as your Personal Wellness Data.

You may choose to share your Personal Wellness Data with a therapist who also uses Healify. Sharing is optional, and you can start or stop at any time. While sharing is active, your therapist can view your data in their dashboard and may also download a copy for their own records. Once downloaded, that copy is outside of Healify’s system and under your therapist’s control. Healify is not a healthcare provider or a HIPAA-covered entity. We are not responsible for how therapists handle or store any copies of your data once downloaded from our system.

When you stop sharing, your therapist’s access to your data within Healify is immediately revoked. Data you previously shared may remain in anonymized, aggregated form to support ongoing service improvement and to provide your therapist with overall practice statistics. No personally identifying information is included in this aggregate data.

Therapist Accounts

If you have a therapist account, you may receive access to Personal Wellness Data that your clients choose to share with you. Client sharing is optional and can be started or stopped at any time. When sharing is active, you may view a client’s data in your dashboard and, if you choose, download a copy for your own records.

Any copies you download are outside of Healify’s system and are under your control. You are solely responsible for how you handle or store downloaded client data. Healify is not a healthcare provider or HIPAA-covered entity, and does not enter into Business Associate Agreements (BAAs). This design reduces administrative overhead and allows us to focus on delivering a simple, reliable service that supports evidence-based care.

When a client stops sharing with you, access to their Personal Wellness Data within Healify is immediately revoked. However, anonymized, aggregated data previously contributed by that client may remain linked to your practice record to provide you with overall practice statistics. No personally identifying information is included in this aggregate data.

How We Use Your Data

Charts & Analytics

We use the information you provide to create charts, dashboards, and other analytics that are visible only to you (and to your therapist if you choose to share). This helps us present your account information back to you in a meaningful way.

Communications

We may contact you via email with support or direct communications. These communications may inform you of events or changes on the site, or be offered to help you use or access our service as needed. If you reach out to us for support we may request additional information from you in order to respond to your questions or comments. You may request to opt-out of communications by contacting Healify support. "Opting-Out" means that you will be removed from all future e-mailings and you will not be contacted.

Service Improvements

We may collect personal and aggregate usage information, such as page views and clickstream data. This information is used for service improvement, product development, and other purposes related to Healify’s business. We may also use anonymized data in aggregate form to improve the service, develop new features, and better understand overall usage trends. When aggregated data is shared (for example, in reports or statistics), no personally identifying information is ever included.

Security Practices

We take privacy very seriously, and work hard to maintain your data security.

Encryption

Our site employs banking-grade security standards such as TLS and cipher keys to ensure that any registration data you provide to us is encrypted while in transit between your device(s) and our servers. We also periodically conduct reviews of our users and usage data to detect any unusual or anomalous patterns, and take measures as needed to improve our security and system design.

If we believe your data has been compromised, we will notify you promptly of the suspected breach. We will also take measures to investigate and mitigate any deleterious effect of the unauthorized use or disclosure of your data.

Children

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) prohibits us from knowingly collecting personally identifying information from children under the age of 13. Our site is designed for people who are at least 13 years old and older, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifying information from children under the age of 13. However, a provision in the act does allow children to use the site if parents or legal guardians follow the steps below:

  1. Sign up for an account on behalf of your child.
  2. Post a paper letter to us specifying the following items:
    • You grant your child permission to use Healify.
    • You tell us the credentials you signed up with for your child in step 1.
    • You sign your name on the letter.
    • You include your email address so we can let you know when your child can start using his or her Healify account. Please contact Healify support for our mailing address.
  3. We will notify you via the email address provided in your letter when it is OK to allow your child to use the site.

Updates to this Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the bottom of the policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our website homepage or sending you a notification). We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.
