Our Survey
Design
The Mood Check is a 20-item survey inspired by the work of Dr. David D. Burns, M.D., a pioneer in cognitive behavioral therapy and psychological scale design. It’s a simple, scientifically-validated tool for measuring your levels of depression, anxiety, and anger. Additionally, it explores joy, a key component of well-being, and closeness and direction, reflecting how supported and engaged you feel with yourself, others, and the world around you.
The Mood Check is designed to help you reflect, gain insight, and track patterns over time. It’s more than just a survey — it’s a tool for better understanding yourself.
Lotus
At the top of your results, a phoenix holds a colored lotus. The lotus color reflects your strongest mood today—a quick visual cue:
- Depression - Blue 🪷
- Anxiety - Purple 🪷
- Anger - Red 🪷
- Joy - White 🪷
- Closeness - Blue Green 🪷
- Direction - Light Green 🪷
It’s just a snapshot; your full scores and reflections tell the deeper story.
Scores
Your results include an overall MoodScore (0-100), along with scores for each of the major mood categories.
Your MoodScore is designed to give you a snapshot of your overall emotional state, and to give you a number you can track over time. A lower MoodScore indicates a more negative state of mind, while a higher score suggests positivity and well-being. Moods are not inherently "good" or "bad," but a consistently low score may signal that professional support could be beneficial.
Why It Matters
Your scores provide a snapshot of how you’re feeling right now. They’re a useful tool for reflection, helping you recognize patterns and identify areas for growth. Over time, your results can help you notice trends and discover what truly helps you thrive.
